Screenprinting

Screen printing on apparel is a printing technique whereby a mesh is used to transfer ink onto clothing. A blade or squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh apertures with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the clothing momentarily along a line of contact. This causes the ink to wet the apparel and be pulled out of the mesh apertures as the screen springs back after the blade has passed. One color is printed at a time, so several screens can be used to produce a multi colored image or design. There are also different types of mesh size that will determine the outcome and look of the finished design on the material.

Digital Print

Digital Print Vinyl refers to a method of printing from a digital-based image directly to a t-shirt or clothing. Digital printing has a higher cost per page than more traditional printing methods, but this price is usually offset by avoiding the cost of all the technical steps required to make printing screens. It also allows for on-demand printing, short turnaround time, and even a modification of the image being used for each print.

Custom Embroidery

Custom Machine embroidery is a process whereby an embroidery machine is used to create patterns on textiles. It is used commercially in product branding, corporate advertising, and uniform adornment. It is also used in the fashion industry to decorate garments and apparel. There are multiple types of machine embroidery. More modern computerized machine embroidery uses an embroidery machine or sewing/embroidery machine that is controlled with a computer that embroiders stored, digitized patterns. These machines may have multiple heads and threads.

Color Vinyl

Heat Transfer Vinyl, or HTV for short, is a specialty vinyl that can be used on certain fabrics/materials to create designs and promotional products. It comes in a roll or sheet form with an adhesive backing so it can be cut, weeded, and placed on a substrate for heat application. Heat Transfer Vinyl is made in single colors and also has specialty options such as patterned, glitter, flocked, holographic, glow in the dark, reflective and 3D puff. Heat transfer vinyl is used on products like shirts, hats, tote bags, jerseys and headbands, etc. Heat Transfer Vinyl must be used on products that can take the heat and pressure necessary to transfer the vinyl onto the apparel. Each heat transfer vinyl manufacturer will list what products can be used with each type of vinyl. Fabrics such as cotton, cotton/poly blends, polyester and canvas work well with heat transfer vinyl. There is vinyl out there that can also be used with nylon and leather. It is very important to make sure the correct vinyl type is used with the correct substrate.
